Accelerated population growth in the surrounding communities prompted a new middle school facility for Kaneland CUSD 302. Supported by the design, Kaneland’s team-based teaching model offers a variety of traditional and exploratory programs in a five-core curriculum format for middle schoolers.
The architectural design is community-driven and encourages flexible learning by incorporating wireless technology throughout the building. The school’s new atmosphere also embraces the district’s strong fine arts programming, incorporating a unique “art gallery” style concept by framing student artwork and showcasing 3D pieces in the hallways and display cases.
Kaneland Harter Middle School became a prototype that established a comprehensive, cost-effective, and flexible plan for the district to implement on another site to accommodate future projected student enrollment.
