Mitchell Community Schools partnered with Wold to reimagine its athletic facilities through a comprehensive Athletic Complex renovation serving baseball, softball, and football. The project began with a full reorganization of the site, removing nearly all existing elements except field lighting to allow the complex to function more efficiently for both athletes and spectators.
A key challenge was the limited site grade between the baseball and softball fields. With just over one foot of elevation change from home plate to home plate, Wold developed an innovative drainage solution that supports the new artificial turf fields and dramatically improves playability. The system proved its value immediately, allowing games to proceed shortly after a five-inch rainfall on opening day. Additional upgrades included new press boxes with locker rooms, restrooms with integrated storage, new backstop walls and netting, dedicated concessions for each sport, and a new football turf field. Together, these improvements create a cohesive athletic complex that supports school programs while providing high quality facilities for the broader community.
