The Minnesota Veterans Home Hastings is one of eight Veterans Homes in the state of Minnesota and provides Domiciliary accommodations.
In 2007 Wold partnered with the Minnesota Veterans Home Hastings and designed a supportive housing campus that would provide transitional housing for Veterans. The projected length of stay varies from short to long term. Traditionally the veterans that need domiciliary care are male and 55+. The system now sees younger veterans who may have families or are female.
The building was designed to be constructed in two 30-unit phases with all one-bedroom apartments and common and support spaces. There are small gathering spaces on each floor and a large multi-purpose space on the main floor to encourage social re-introduction. The units are designed to be flexible to accommodate future combinations to create two-bedroom and efficiency options as the need arises.
