The Irsay Family Research Institute at Indiana University was established through a generous donation from the Jim Irsay family to become a leading national center addressing the stigma surrounding mental illness and other health challenges, including HIV, epilepsy, cancer, dementia, and addiction. Wold renovated the second and third floors of Sarah Parke Morrison Hall to create the Institute’s new home.
The renovation includes a welcoming entry and reception area that celebrates the Irsay Family’s Kicking the Stigma campaign through wall coverings and imagery. Administrative and research offices, conference rooms, hoteling spaces, student-focused areas, and a data center were also created. Mechanical system upgrades included new air handling units, and electrical, plumbing, restroom, fire alarm, and data infrastructure improvements were implemented. Historic-sensitive finishes and updated lighting provide a brighter, more inviting environment while supporting the Institute’s mission.
