After gaining approval from the State Legislature to pursue a Local Option Sales Tax to fund a potential Public Safety Facility Improvement project, the City of Woodbury hired Wold Architects and Engineers to plan and design a new public safety facility.
Wold’s expertise in public safety facilities allowed a rapid but thorough evaluation of the existing Woodbury Public Safety Facility, determination of projected future facility needs and development of several options of how to address those needs for consideration. All options focused on addressing the agreed-upon objectives of maintaining a unified public safety facility to reinforce collaboration between police and fire, reuse of the well-maintained and well-functioning existing building components, and implementing solutions that reinforced best practices to keep officers and firefighters safe in the line of duty. While the existing site was constrained, Wold’s proposed solution segregates staff away from public but connects public parking and lobby spaces to the adjacent Woodbury City Hall. The quick resolution of Wold’s study allowed the City Council to act in time to get the L.O.S.T. vote on the November 2024 election ballot.
