At the Trafalgar Branch Library in Johnson County, Indiana, Wold designed a welcoming community library that reflects the character of its rural setting. Indigenous sandstone on the exterior gives the building a warm, agrarian charm, while exposed timber structural framing carries that character into the interior. Replacing a former 5,000-square-foot facility, the new library was designed to feel open, comfortable, and easy to navigate rather than overwhelming in scale. A centralized circulation desk allows staff to efficiently supervise the space, while distinct quiet areas near a stone fireplace create inviting places for both adult readers and children’s collection users. A dedicated young adult alcove gives teens a place of their own, rounding out a library environment that is both peaceful and highly functional.
