Following the successful completion in 2018 of a facilities master plan for the Fourth Judicial District in Hennepin County and the development and confirmation of space needs postpandemic in 2023, Wold was selected by the County’s Designer Selection
Committee to fully design the relocation of family court operations from the Wold-designed Family Justice Center to the Government Center.
The project includes 15 new courtroom and hearing spaces specifically designed for different purposes, including filling a gap in the Government Center by providing a high-profile trial courtroom and hearing room where proceedings with a large number of litigants, high public interest, and media coverage can occur. The project also provides dedicated administrative offices for the Family Courts Division and a consolidated Self-Help Center designed to better support community members navigating the court system.
