Wold Architects and Engineers provided planning, programming, and design services for the Franklin Special District Transportation and Maintenance Facility. After acquiring an existing building and property, the District sought to transform the facility into a modern operations center supporting transportation, large vehicle and fleet maintenance, administrative functions, training, and staff support spaces.
The project included evaluation of the existing structure, removal of the existing building envelope to the original structural steel frame, installation of a new exterior envelope, modernization of building systems, and complete interior reconfiguration to support the District’s operational needs. Extensive site improvements addressed parking, vehicle circulation, utility infrastructure, accessibility, and long-term campus functionality. Through careful planning and phased implementation, the project successfully repurposed an existing facility into a durable, efficient, and adaptable operations center supporting both current and future needs.
