Nina Murrell

As a first-generation college student at Rice University, I learned firsthand how higher education and cultural exchange can expand what a person imagines is possible. I love helping institutions create the conditions for learning, belonging, discovery, and the unexpected connections that shape a life.

Nina leads Wold’s work with colleges and universities, often engaging institutional leaders at the earliest stages of change to understand the need before defining the project. An architect, entrepreneur, and researcher, she helps institutional leaders connect their priorities and academic vision with funding, partnerships, infrastructure, and placemaking. Her experience encompasses institutional and campus planning, multidisciplinary design for academic, research, museum, residential, and student-life environments, and leadership of ongoing renovation, deferred maintenance, and campus improvement programs. Nina brings the right people and evidence together, mobilizes Wold’s broad architecture and engineering resources, and remains involved as early possibilities become clear strategies, viable projects, and lasting institutional value.

Outside of work, Nina tends a lush, slightly wild garden of predominantly native plants, collecting up to 1,900 gallons of rainwater and getting to know the plants, pollinators, birds, and other creatures that share it with her over time.
