St. Vrain Community Montessori School

Wold has partnered with the St. Vrain Valley School District and St. Vrain Community Montessori School (SVCMS) on the design and construction of a new 54,000 square foot PreK–8 facility in Longmont, Colorado. This “Forever Home” campus will bring together Children’s House through middle school students in a purpose-built environment aligned to Montessori philosophy and designed to support student-centered, hands-on learning.

Community and stakeholder input was central to the design process. Families, staff, and District leadership engaged in a series of workshops and forums to identify priorities for teaching, learning, and community life. Their input guided decisions around outdoor connections, flexible learning environments, and spaces that reflect Montessori values.

The design embraces its 10-acre site, with direct connections to a three-acre working farm and framed views of the surrounding mountains. Classrooms are designed to extend into outdoor environments, encouraging student exploration and stewardship of the land. Key program features include a library, a central cafeteria and community room, a dedicated maker space, and a music room that doubles as a stage for performances in the gymnasium.

A unique aspect of this project is its funding. While charter schools in Colorado typically must self-fund facilities, the St. Vrain Valley School District invested approximately $34 million to fully fund this new campus. This partnership underscores the District’s commitment to Montessori education and equitable learning environments. Construction began in May 2025, with completion in August 2026. The facility welcomes approximately 400 students at opening and is designed for long-term growth and community use.
