Wold provided engineering services for the design and specification assistance to Henderson County to install a playground project titled River's Edge Park at Darden Park.
This age-appropriate playground structure was the inspiration of a local pastor. It was awarded the John S. Wilder Rebuild Tennessee Award at the statewide Tennessee Development District Association meeting in Murfreesboro in 2015. Wold provided topographical surveying and design of the grading plan for the facility's concrete pad/sub-surface. We provided technical specifications for the playground and the safety surfacing. Our involvement included: assistance to the county on the reimbursement requests to state government from the Local Parks and Recreation Fund program. The approximate size of the poured-in-place Vitriturf safety surface is 8,600 SF.
The playground was designed and built to ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards. Children from pre-school to 14 years of age could benefit from standard elements of play and be included with those who do not have special needs.
