Wold was hired to design the improvements at Marcy Open School, which included safety and security improvements, re-investment in existing building systems and expansion of the kitchen/cafeteria to provide on-site food preparation.
The project required careful coordination both with the city and the parks board and several neighborhood stakeholder groups. Working with all these connected stakeholder groups, several options for addressing the scope were developed, leading to the solution that is now built today. The kitchen/cafeteria addition is master-planned for a future additional story and is located adjacent to the playground and Holmes park, which are used extensively for P.E. and recess.
