Wold has worked with the Elk River Area School District since 2004 and has assisted the district with multiple long-range planning efforts and referendums, as well as completed new buildings, additions, and renovations across the District to keep pace with the rapidly growing and changing communities. With (22) buildings to maintain, Wold built a facility inventory database for the District in 2010 to better implement comprehensive maintenance planning. For the most recent successful referendum in 2019, Wold worked with the District on the planning and implementation of $113 million in projects that included a new middle school, additions at two high schools, site/stadium improvements, and major additions and renovations at three elementary schools.
Lincoln Elementary School was the oldest facility in the District that had not received a major renovation. It was also the only school with a main entrance that was not adjacent to parking and did not have a fire sprinkler system, so a major renovation and reconfiguration was much needed. The building administration spaces were relocated near an addition which included a new main entrance, secure vestibule, and main office with a direct connection to improve security and visitor access. Special education spaces were reconfigured into suites to provide specialized learning settings to better accommodate student needs. Classrooms and makerspaces were renovated and modernized, with flexible learning areas to help connect classrooms to common spaces. The entire site was also reconfigured to include expanded parking, improved drop-off and pick-up, and separation of vehicular and pedestrian circulation for improved safety. The end result is an elementary school completely revisioned to meet the educational needs of today and the future.
