Wold and ISD 194 have been working together for 35 years, and collaborated on the District Long Range Planning in 2018. After a first round of projects were implemented in 2019 to address capacity at multiple schools, it was determined that a new Elementary School would be needed to continue to accommodate the growing District. Voters approved this in May of 2021 and design began immediately. As with previous projects in the District, Wold utilized a Core Planning Group process to involve stakeholders from throughout the District including staff, administration, parents and community members.
The design of the building is organized around a central open media center with two parallel organizations to either side of the primary circulation. Towards one side are the connected educational clusters comprised of classrooms, flexible learning spaces and adjacent small group rooms. To the other side are Specialist spaces for STEM, Art, and Music with co-located District based Special Education suite. Spaces shared by the public including the Gymnasium and Cafeteria are located adjacent to primary entry points with the ability to secure the rest of the building for after hours use.
