In 2023, District 279 passed a bond referendum to improve nearly 30 facilities through its “Building a Better Future” long-range facilities plan. Significant demographic changes across the district prompted the plan, creating opportunities and challenges for how facilities are used. Located in the rapidly growing northwest corner of Maple Grove, Aspen Ridge Elementary School is Osseo Area Schools’ first new school in 20 years. It expands the district’s capacity to serve the surrounding community, accommodating more than 500 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Aspen Ridge’s studio-style learning model replaces traditional classrooms with flexible learning studios that support hands-on exploration, team teaching and collaboration. Abundant natural light and shared spaces provide inviting places for students to learn and connect, while enhanced safety features protect students throughout the day. The school also includes four hardwood courts developed in partnership with the Osseo-Maple Grove Basketball Association and play field amenities developed in partnership with the City of Maple Grove.
Wold worked closely with the district through a comprehensive community engagement process to ensure each project’s design responds to shifting enrollment needs, addresses facilities maintenance and expands opportunities for all students.
