The addition and renovation at Floyd Central High School was phase three of a multi-phase plan to modernize New Albany-Floyd County Schools and provide spaces that accommodate both program growth and increasing student populations. The project addressed outdated facilities while creating an environment that supports current educational standards.
Renovations reorganized academic areas to connect junior and senior high spaces and expanded classroom sizes from an average of 740 to over 900 square feet. Seven new science labs and multiple computer labs were added to support enhanced STEM and technology instruction. A new administration addition relocated counselors and administrators to the front of the building, creating a secure entry while providing much-needed office space. Additional classrooms, along with expanded band and orchestra areas, ensure spaces meet program needs and current educational standards.
