The best design solutions begin with a clear understanding of what matters most to each client. Across education, healthcare, senior living, and behavioral health, Wold JJCA takes the time to understand an organization’s goals, operations, culture, and community. That insight shapes practical, thoughtful design solutions that respond to today’s needs while providing the flexibility to adapt for the future.
From long-range planning and complex renovations to new facilities and campus development, clients benefit from a collaborative process grounded in listening, informed decision-making, and experience with specialized environments. Wold JJCA brings together market knowledge, technical expertise, and a commitment to lasting relationships - helping clients make confident investments in facilities that strengthen their organizations and better serve the people who depend on them.
Our firm’s story began in 1991, when David Johnson, Ed Johnson, and Bruce Crabtree founded JJCA. Together, they shaped a firm built on creativity, trust, hard work, and a genuine belief in people. What began as a small Nashville practice grew through lasting client relationships and a shared commitment to thoughtful design, ultimately serving clients nationwide.
From the beginning, JJCA has been about more than the buildings it designs. Ed and Bruce helped create a culture where relationships matter, curiosity is encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and people enjoy doing meaningful work together. More than 35 years later, those qualities remain at the heart of who we are today, shaping our work, our relationships, and the culture we carry forward as Wold JJCA.

Wold JJCA’s culture has always centered on people - talented individuals who enjoy working together, share ideas freely, ask questions, and learn from one another. There’s a genuine sense of camaraderie, but also an expectation that everyone contributes something valuable. Curiosity is encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and mentorship happens naturally through collaboration.
It is a culture that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously, creating an environment where people can grow, build lasting friendships, and make a meaningful impact together.

Giving back has long been part of Wold JJCA’s culture, especially when it means opening doors for the next generation. For many years, our team members have participated in the ACE Mentor Program, sharing their time and experience with high school students as they explore careers in architecture, engineering, and construction.
Our team also joined colleagues from Wold’s Brentwood office to support Love Helps’ Triple “A” Achiever Awards, a program that celebrates elementary students for their academic progress, regular attendance, positive attitudes, and character. By sharing our time and encouragement, we hope to help young people see what is possible for their own futures.
