Wold Architects & Engineers, a full-service planning, architecture and engineering firm specializing in education, government, healthcare and senior living design, today announced it has acquired VPS Architecture. The partnership expands Wold’s national presence while further strengthening its expertise in education and public-sector design, two industries in which both firms have long-standing client relationships and reputations for thoughtful, community-centered work.
With the addition of VPS, Wold continues to grow its national platform, strengthening its team of experienced architects and designers serving communities across the Midwest and beyond. The firm now includes more than 300 professionals across seven offices nationwide.
Based in Evansville and Indianapolis, VPS increases Wold’s presence in Indiana and the Midwest, a region experiencing continued investment in education and public-sector infrastructure. The two firms share a deep commitment to client relationships, integrity and people-first design, bringing expanded expertise to K-12, civic and healthcare clients in the area.
The partnership reflects Wold’s ongoing investment in strategic growth while remaining grounded in the people, communities and long-term relationships that have defined the firm for decades.
“Like Wold, VPS brings a strong culture and history of delivering results focused on the needs of people and communities. By aligning our teams and expertise, we are building a powerful platform for long-term growth and innovation,” said CEO Vaughn Dierks, AIA, LEED AP. “We are on a mission to make a difference in the communities we serve, and when we first engaged with VPS, we knew their team would be the right choice to help us expand our impact in new ways. We’re excited to create fresh opportunities for our employees, partners and clients as we continue building on that mission.”
Founded in 1960, VPS Architecture is a multidisciplinary architectural design firm known for its collaborative approach, evidence-based design strategies and dedication to superior client service. VPS has built a strong reputation designing K-12 schools and civic facilities for communities across Indiana and the broader Midwest. By joining Wold, VPS gains access to expanded in-house engineering expertise, additional technical resources and operational support, while maintaining the same leadership, project teams and relationship-driven approach that clients rely on.
“This partnership brings together two teams that are deeply invested in advancing our industry. It positions us to accelerate growth and pursue opportunities that neither team could achieve alone,” said VPS President Sarah Schuler, AIA.
VPS Vice President George Link, AIA, LEED AP, continued, “By combining our strengths, we can deliver more comprehensive solutions while continuing to provide the high level of service our clients expect. It opens the door to new ideas, new capabilities and even greater impact through the work we do together.”
Leadership from both firms will remain actively involved as the teams begin integrating operations and branding over time, ensuring a seamless transition and continuity for clients, employees and partners.
The acquisition represents the first strategic transaction following Wold’s partnership with Providus Capital Partners, announced in August 2025. Providus serves as a strategic advisor and capital partner as Wold continues to expand its service capabilities and enter new markets.
