Wold Team

At Wold Architects and Engineers, our Denver office blends local insight with the national expertise of a firm consistently ranked among the top architecture firms in the U.S. What many people don’t realize, however, is the depth of the team behind that work.

Today, more than 30 architects, engineers and planners collaborate from our Colorado office, shaping schools, civic buildings, healthcare facilities and community spaces across the state. With architecture and engineering working side by side, the team integrates design vision and technical performance from the earliest stages of every project. While our Denver office continues to grow, one thing remains constant: a commitment to collaboration, community and creating spaces that strengthen Colorado for generations to come.

Impact by the numbers

Our growing Denver office reflects both a strong local presence and a powerful national network:

  • 30+ professionals based in Denver
  • 24 decades of combined experience
  • 25 disciplines represented, including architecture, interiors, engineering, planning and more
  • 484 projects delivered across Colorado’s diverse landscapes
  • 97 school districts and communities served

The people behind the builds

To understand what makes our Colorado office unique, we asked team members to share what defines the culture, collaboration and impact behind our work. Their perspectives reflect just a portion of the talent driving Wold’s growth in Colorado.

What defines the Colorado office?

  • Ashley Duvenhage | Project Coordinator: We blend the close-knit energy of a small firm with the resources of a larger one, and there’s always someone ready to share knowledge and help others grow.
  • Evan Lugo | Project Coordinator: Our team mixes seasoned expertise with emerging talent, and the creativity here runs deep — there’s even a pinewood derby track in the break room to keep us inspired!

How Wold works: Culture and collaboration

Our Denver office is built on a culture that encourages mentorship, curiosity and ownership. Team members are trusted to take on meaningful roles early in their careers while benefiting from the experience of colleagues across the firm.

  • Bryan Hicks | Architect and Project Manager: I’ve been with Wold since graduating, largely because of the company’s commitment to developing employees and giving them opportunities to take ownership of projects early on.
  • Ashley Duvenhage: Leadership here genuinely invests in your growth and success, and the level of communication and support is unlike anything I’ve experienced in my career.

That culture extends into how our teams collaborate to bring quality design forward. With architects and engineers working together in the same office and connected to colleagues across Wold’s national network, projects benefit from both regional knowledge and deep technical expertise. Rather than operating in silos, our architects and engineers collaborate from day one, aligning design goals, performance requirements and constructability throughout the process. This approach allows our team to move efficiently while delivering thoughtful, resilient solutions.

  • Evan Lugo: One of the greatest advantages of our firm is the depth of experience behind every project, especially with in-house engineers who help strengthen coordination and elevate collaboration.
  • Bryan Hicks: Collaboration is one of Wold’s greatest strengths, and in Colorado we regularly draw on national expertise for complex projects like justice and public safety facilities.

In addition to this integrated team approach, our Denver office benefits from Wold’s broader technical resources. We bring specialist engineers and designers from across the national firm into our local design process to contribute insights. Their specialized expertise and passion for excellence help refine ideas and strengthen project outcomes. Tools like integrated 3D modeling, VR walkthroughs and advanced design analysis allow teams to visualize spaces earlier and coordinate more effectively, helping clients better understand their projects long before construction begins.

Impact you can see and feel

Every project begins with listening to the people who will use the space. Whether working with educators, public officials or healthcare leaders, our goal is to create environments that reflect the priorities and experiences of the communities they serve.

Often, the most meaningful moments come not from the scale of a building but from the impact it has on everyday life.

  • Matt Rodgers | Project Manager: I’ve valued working on the Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) grant projects I’ve been part of and seeing the impact those schools have on communities like the ones I grew up in.
  • Bryan Hicks: Working with St. Vrain Community Montessori School has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, especially seeing students celebrate their new campus at the topping-out ceremony.
  • Evan Lugo: The Dillon Valley Art Room restoration is a project I’ll never forget. After a fire and major water damage, our team worked on an accelerated timeline so the school could reopen on time before the new year began.

Moments like these reflect the purpose behind our work: creating spaces that support learning, connection and community across Colorado.

Designing for Colorado: A unique opportunity

Designing in Colorado brings both unique challenges and exciting opportunities. From severe weather to rapidly growing communities, each project requires careful planning and a focus on resilience. That momentum is already visible. Our Denver office has expanded twice in the last three years, reflecting rising demand for thoughtful, community-centered design across Colorado and Wold’s commitment to meeting that demand with the right people, tools and expertise.

  • Matt Rodgers: Designing for Colorado’s extreme conditions is something I take pride in, from planning for 60-inch snowfalls to accounting for expansive soils and severe weather.
  • Ashley Duvenhage: Colorado still feels dynamic and pioneering in spirit, and every project brings a new challenge that creates opportunities to build strong relationships with local partners.

Our team’s understanding of Colorado’s landscapes, regulations and local priorities allows us to design solutions that reflect the state’s character while preparing communities for the future.

  • Evan Lugo: I see exciting opportunities in sustainable, energy-efficient design and solving complex challenges for Colorado’s growing communities.
  • Bryan Hicks: Our office continually tests new tools, refines workflows and elevates design communication around a user-inclusive process to create authentic, people-centered spaces across Colorado for years to come.

Built to deliver, made to last

It represents a growing team of architects, engineers and planners committed to shaping Colorado’s communities through high-quality projects that are built on a robust, collaborative design process and a strong spirit of partnership with the communities we serve.

This commitment continues to expand with the recent addition of Greg Cromer as an education practice leader in our Denver office. With more than 40 years of experience designing K-12 learning environments, Greg brings deep expertise and long-standing relationships that further strengthen Wold’s ability to serve school districts across the state. Together with the broader team, his leadership reflects the depth of experience behind our Colorado office and the momentum driving its continued growth.
