Home to 83 seniors, the Prairie Ridge Center consists of four cottages designed for the staff to provide resident-centric care. Three of the four cottages each hold 24 beds with small, residentially-scaled common spaces including living rooms, dining, serving kitchens, and porches. The fourth cottage has 11 beds for memory care patients. Each resident’s room is private and over 350 square feet, with a private bathroom and shower. The design creates a pleasant, inviting place for seniors, focusing on being a home and fostering independence for residents. A town center serving the cottages functions as an entrance into the campus and emulates a park with replica area landmarks, a play area for children, and a treat shop. These features encourage family and community members to use the space and foster an intergenerational community.
