The Piatt County Jail is a replacement of their 130-year-old facility that now accommodates future expansion, minimizes staffing costs, and allows safe transfer and lock-up for up to 10 different classifications of inmates. By utilizing a master control that also functions as housing unit control and a radial design, one officer may easily view housing, recreation, visiting, booking, holding, classrooms, and the entry sally port. The design keeps staffing levels minimal—as few as one officer and one rover can supervise the jail. Piatt County Jail also houses the sheriff’s offices, uniting all sheriff functions for the county. This provides a home base for both patrol and investigations as well as a location to store and process evidence, areas for training, a hardened 911-communications space, and a radio tower.
