After 48 years, Lasata Care Center wanted to transform their community from an institution model with centralized nursing and dining into smaller households with an emphasis on one-on-one care in order to enhance the residents’ quality of life.
The renovations focus on fostering independence and preserving dignity for residents. The design creates households of 15 to 19, including specialized rooms for those with varying levels of memory loss. Common areas feature kitchenettes, dining areas, and lounges with warm and inviting interior details. By bringing down the scale of the spaces, Lasata Care Center remains sensitive to the residents and staff while becoming more like a home. Enhanced therapy and service areas help generate revenue, and updates to old mechanical and electrical systems save Lasata Care Center money in operational efficiency.
