Jackson County Courthouse

Following the development of a complete county master plan of facilities, Jackson County remodeled and restored their courthouse listed on the National Register of Historic Places with the intent of reorganizing departments to meet modern space needs and create service desks that improve public service.

In order to respect the parameters of a historical building, the team worked alongside the state historical society to implement the bronze front doors and exterior windows. Inside, the design respects historical elements like framework and doorways, which were relocated rather than remodeled; the historic courtroom includes blended fire protection that does not disrupt the historic flavor; any newly installed woodwork matches existing woodwork; and all space reconfigurations fit carefully and efficiently into the existing space while remaining accessible to visitors.
