Interlude Restorative Suites is a three-story transitional care unit comprising 42 private skilled nursing beds, four semi-private skilled nursing beds, and four skilled nursing/care suite beds. The new facility connects to the existing Unity Hospital via skyway.
The design follows the client’s objective of a facility that provides an enjoyable guest experience founded on a hospitality model to support quick recovery for guests. The guest rooms are restful and quiet to bolster recovery. In order to minimize disruptions, two-way nurse servers allow staff to stock supplies from the hallway and are accessible from within the guest room. Sliding doors to bathrooms optimize square footage and ease guest movement. These small design details reduce staff stress by making quality care easier to provide.
A personal chef located on each floor caters to individual dining needs and requests, and guests can order room service or dine in the dining room. The state-of-the- art physical therapy area has direct elevator access, providing guests with privacy and dignity. Such accommodations support guest independence and enhance the recovery of guests in the transitional care unit.
