Guided by district stakeholders and their greater vision for their community, the designs at Hickory Grove Elementary reflect goals of the rapidly growing district. The PK-5 school consists of diverse learning environments clustered by grade level. Each cluster includes interconnected shared resources areas that allow the building to adapt when grade-level populations fluctuate. These flexible core spaces as well as technology infrastructure for wireless access and one-to-one computing ensure that Hickory Grove Elementary is forward thinking and future-proof. A multi-purpose performing arts space opens onto the gymnasium and cafeteria, and a dedicated community-use area has room for clubs, parent groups, and afterhours access for the community.
Throughout the facility, clerestory windows and skylights maximize daylighting while thoughtfully chosen materials strike a balance between colorful visual stimulation and durability appropriate to the age level of the school.
