Hennepin County South Suburban Courts Relocation

As the result of collaboration on the Hennepin County and 4th Judicial District Facilities Alternatives Study, a two-story suburban court addition to an existing police and city hall complex resolves growth, efficiency, and security issues throughout the county.

The addition houses two courtrooms and chambers spaces, a public service counter, office space, flexible conference room for court participants, and public waiting space. The main entry to the addition identifies the court’s presence while retaining clear boundaries between the municipal and court functions of the civic plaza and maintains a cohesive aesthetic identity across all functions. Security provisions include a weapons-screening checkpoint, a dedicated pathway for in-custody defendants into courtrooms, and a secure holding area operated by the sheriff’s office.
