The new Fort Morgan Middle School replaced an aging school building serving grades 6-8. The project, designed to include and support collaborative spaces and team learning and teaching, has interior and exterior educational and social spaces. The unique, U-shape of the design gives students room to move around in the school, energizing them to continue learning without reducing instructional time. Home to big band musician and composer Glenn Miller, the Fort Morgan Community is rich with musical history and culture that influenced the emphasis on music and performance in the middle school design. A cafetorium with a large stage provides the greater community with an area for performance functions while striking a balance between cafeteria and auditorium.
