The Dakota County Burnhaven Library needed interior updates and reorganizing. The renovations reconfigures the library’s organization to increase efficiency, creates focal points and areas of interest, and establishes a new entrance, lobby, and exterior identity to make the space more inviting; the additions include a 1,200 sf meeting space for the public. The Burnhaven Library features lowered bookshelves that enhance sightlines while ensuring better customer service and security. A living room style environment creates a computer area that welcomes public use, while each area is distinguishable by its own creative visual focal point, demarcating the children’s area, tech area, and quiet study rooms. The renovations address opportunities for customer self-service and consider the future changes that come inevitably with technology.
