Clearview, owned by Dodge County, needed a replacement facility to support their developing alternative delivery programs in long-term care. Clearview’s program includes general geriatric and skilled care, Medicare rehabilitation, dementia, brain injury rehabilitation, behavioral rehabilitation, chronic mental illness, and developmental disabilities. The design of Clearview focuses on changing the perception of the facility and an identity shift from a “last resort” to a first choice that celebrates resident-centered care. The facility moves from an institutional design to ample use of natural wood and stone features, and considers input from staff, stakeholders, and the surrounding community. The new facility reduces the total bed count from 271 to 236 and allows for more efficient staffing.
