Following a 20-year countywide facilities study, Carlton County replaced the two existing health and human services buildings with a new facility home to public health, human services, veterans services, and licensing departments. The new building clusters departments to optimize natural lighting, workflow, and flexible spaces for staff and visitors, making it more convenient for staff and the public they serve.
The main floor lobby feeds into the heavily trafficked WIC, clinic, and Veteran Services for the ease of their clients. Conference spaces are adjacent to these high-volume areas for public access and afterhours use. Social services sit on the upper level with a portion of Public Health. All departments have adequate storage, a universal information system, and access to a centralized breakroom. The result is flexible, growth-oriented space for clients, staff, and community use with convenient and accessible technology.
