The new police station for the City of Alexandria reflects the local community while accommodating the additional space necessary for administration, records, investigations, patrol, evidence processing, and squad parking. The city-owned site near Lake Darling faces the fire department and remains very visible from the highway, with excellent access to downtown Alexandria. The design takes advantage of its proximity to Lake Darling and the downtown, featuring modern, open space with large windows that highlight the views and provide proper daylighting. The space reflects its function and role for the community, utilizing copper cladding reminiscent of when police wore copper badges. The lobby displays a historic motorcycle first used by beat cops, donated to the city by a nearby farmer and restored by a local motorcycle shop.
