A Case Study in Designing for Under-Resourced Communities: Sheridan School District

Appropriate learning environments can do wonders for a student’s ability to engage with their education and find success.

Every student deserves the opportunity to learn in an innovative environment designed with their needs in mind. That being said, some districts have a difficult time attempting to provide these facilities while managing tight budgets and infrastructure challenges. In 2008, Sheridan School District faced economic constraints and a lack of reliable infrastructure across the district learning spaces. Additionally, the schools struggled to perform academically, adding another challenge to improving education in Sheridan. Leaders in the district knew the community needed not only a substantive change, but a change agent partner to help steer the process toward success.
