Implementing a Strategic Plan to Ensure College & Career Readiness for All Students

Updated March 16, 2020: The NSBA conference has been terminated and although we are disappointed we know that the health and safety of all is the number one priority. We hope to share our insights and experience at a later date and in a different format. Until then below is a description of what our team was planning to present.

Discussing the recent renovations and additions to their district are Wold’s Ben Beery as the Educational Planner with Nancy Thul, Director of Teaching and Learning at Shakopee Public Schools and Elizabeth Duehr, Academy Coach at Shakopee High School.

Shakopee Public Schools embarked on a multi-year strategic plan to become a Ford Next Generation Learning Academy school. This transformation coincided with a complex building renovation project. The district changed its curriculum from a traditional high school into an academy model of small learning communities with a focus on real-world projects and student experiences designed in partnership with local businesses and community members. Come learn about the academy model and its implementation!
