Dunlap Community Unit Schools

Dunlap School District needed a new school to accommodate the growing number of students in the area. In response, Wold designed a facility for 450 students, with an expanded core to allow for a later expansion to double the capacity to 900 students. The classrooms, science labs and staff space are designed around a resource area to support the house concept. This flexible resource area is designed to be an area for independent and collaborative learning and is equipped with computers, soft seating, work tables and presentation space. Unique features include:

  • A central “street” and “town square” connecting the various areas of the building
  • Flexible auditorium space for 150 students, which doubles as a music room
  • Site was masterplanned for future District facilities and amenities
