Lasata Care Center

Cedarburg, Wisconsin

The goal of this client was to transform their 48-year-old facility from a medical model into a care center to support them in providing care under the social model.

The renovation focuses on fostering independence, and preserving dignity for residents. The design creates household units, including specialized rooms. We redesigned the common areas to include kitchenettes, dining areas, and lounges. The project created 20 private rooms with private bathrooms, eight private rooms with private bathroom and shower, and updated the bathing and shower rooms. To allow the client to better tailor services to the community, the project reduced the census from 162 to 136 beds. Four bariatric suites allow greater flexibility in meeting the needs of residents. The remaining 72 rooms are all being refreshed. In addition, therapy services are enhanced, to help generate increased revenue.

The project also included updates and upgrades to the HVAC and mechanical systems. The project replaced the boilers, added ventilation to resident rooms, upgraded electrical services. The mechanical and electrical upgrades help the client save money by making the care center more energy efficient to operate.
