George W. Gibbs Jr. Elementary

Rochester Public Schools

As the first new school in Rochester in over 20 years, the George W. Gibbs Jr. Elementary School provided an opportunity for Wold to work with Rochester Schools on re-imagining how their Elementary buildings could be designed. Classrooms organized around learning resource areas for common and independent study.  Located within a new urban development the 83,000 square foot building serves students in grades K-5 as well as an Early Childhood section, as well as the larger community. Elementary achieved LEED® Silver status by incorporating multiple sustainable strategies, including:

  • Exterior Learning Environments
  • Maximized Natural Light
  • Geothermal Ground-Source Heat Pump System
