The design at Winneshiek Medical Center reorganizes the medical center for more efficient and effective delivery of ambulatory and outpatient services. A comprehensive master facilities plan provided an expansion that included a kidney dialysis unit and a larger medical clinic. These distinct units required separate traffic patterns that considered their respective typical patients—geriatric population versus families. The two-story building sits on a sloped site to accommodate separate entrances for each floor. A large circular drop-off area leads to three separate entrances and clearly directs patients to the proper area. Each entrance has a protective canopy that indicates areas they serve and connects to an interior circulation path.
